Have a look at this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Bugatti- ... ucks#v4-36

According to the description, I guess even the owner himself almost really believes he is offering the real thing...

One of the nicest jokes of 2009.

Vive la marque!

You might be joking, but I indeed see a Royale. All the major visible components are typically Molsheim:

-wheels
-front bumper
-steering (on the left, of course)

Oh, sorry, wrong glasses.... :D :lol:

There is a another one as well (recently re-listed), at a much higher asking price, but apparently much better quality, and an 8 cylinder engine:

Looks pretty decent. Don't like the instrument cluster, though...

I wonder which parts are the parts claimed as "original Bugatti":
probably the tire-valve-covers or some other major part.... :D
or maybe an original electrical fuse...

wait now I see: it's the tyres.....

About Royale, I am looking for the differences of dimensions of wheels between Prototypes and "sérials" It's for superposition of pics, to see if they are really shortened... Thanks you.

Its amazing how persistent old stories are. when I first put forward my theory that the prototype did not have a longer wheelbase than the other cars, I worked it out from scaling up photographs, but since then I have validated it by studying the factory drawings.
My findings are in an article I wrote in the latest Bugatti Trust newsletter.

Bugatti Royale factory drawing Number;
41 CH 1,(Prototype chassis longeron)- Dated 21st July 1926, length of chassis rail 5300 mm.
Drawing struck through and replaced by;
41 CH 217 (Production chassis longeron)- Dated 15th december 1930, length of chassis rail 5380 mm.

As you can see the production chassis is not shorter than the prototype chassis- it is actually 80 mm longer. Both chassis are dimensionally identical from the rear all the way up to the front axle centreline, but because the front springs were too short to work, they needed to be lengthened ahead of the front axle.
An attempt was made to cure this problem by flattening the radius of the longerons at the front and fitting "stretched" dumbirons to enable longer springs to be fitted.
The drawing for this change is dated 20th november 1928.

Thanks Morgan for your post. I have not the new Trust newsletter, it's not on the site. In fact with pics, I can't see any difference between Royale(s) :D , but so many autors tells that there is, that they give me doubt !!!! Sorry for my English !

The older Royale wheels have smaller brake drums, and the angle of the cooling fins is different. I believe the book "Bugatti Royale, une reve magnifique" has both drawings of the wheels side by side.

Also the older radiator is different (the "flutes")

About 41150, is it true that it has old wheels, and the old radiator?
