OK, so this is the 1960's Alstohm chassis made for Schlumpf. Not type 61, is it?

With two originals to copy I would be surprised if the schlumpfs would have accepted something different.So what is the truth Greg? Was this a genuine original pre schlumpf Bugatti chassis?Did schlumpf decide not to use it because it was not correct for royale?

With Uwe reviving this thread, I notice that it was left with a question aimed at me about the Type 61 frame in the reserve collection.
It is without question a genuine Bugatti frame - the same as a Type 41 but longer. Why Schlumpf didn't like the idea of cutting it down to make his "Esders" is a mystery to me because (much to his annoyance) his replica frame was ultimately welded up from two pieces anyway!

So if I understand things correctly,the frame with Mr Mulins is genuine Bugatti,but longer than T41.So if he builds this one what would it be regarded as a Type 61 ? More original than the Esders chez Schlumph? I agree he should have cut it down,no one would ever have known. Schlumpf is said to have ordered 2 chassis from Ahlstom. Where is the second one?

The T61 chassis probably was bought from the factory at its closure, I presume? And it was for the Troop Carrier?

How did the story come about that Schlumpf had two chassis made?
I think that may be a presumption on the fact that there was this Royale (Type 61) chassis laying around in the reserve collection.
