Does anyone know why the Type 40 was never replaced? Surely half a Type 57 engine would have been a nice little earner during the Depression years?

Thanks
Johan

Agree 100% with Johan.

Would have been not too difficult, making a twin-cam 4-cylinder (much like the later T73), and put that in a modified T40 chassis. Later versions could have had a lower chassis, maybe also a T57S type grille.

Such a car would have boosted the pre-war sales.

Would be nice to see some evidence if there have been any thoughts this way or not. In the Steinhauser book, correspondence between Ettore and Jean will be published. Hopefully we can find something in there!
