I have a pair of Bugatti Gran Prix cars, one is an 8 cylinder and the other is a 4 cylinder. Both are very exciting to own,maintaining and drive and even though they are 82 years old have no problem keep up with and even out running modern vehicles They have been with me for more than 25 years,Have found to my chagrin that outside of aspiring Isadora Duncans, ladies prefer Rolls to Bugatti's but it's still a car to make your blood boil and Ken Purdy said it best as the "queen of the motorcars"

Great cars, great little story. No 5K, too bad, but thank you for sharing your passion with us.

Your cars are pretty similar (except for 4 cilinders...). Which one do you feel is your favourite, in terms of drivability, maintainance, power, etc?

the 8 cylinder car is certainly more powerful and can fit an honest 100 MPH,
it does require more maintenance and a rebuild is a fearful expense. Where it lacks is on hills, as it's unsupercharged it really doesn't go up hill with quite the brio one wants. But it's really fine in flat terrain, 70 MPH is only 3000 rpm in 4th.

The 4 cylinder car is much more of a narrow power band and while it's lighter
to throw from corner to corner, you can't let the forward motion drop or you will need a while to get back up to speed. Maintenance is easier and the oiling system is a shade more reliable so I more confident is using all the rpm's IT will do about 85 mph all out but that's pushing it for a 80 year old car, I usually keep it to 50-60 MPH

someday I will add a supercharger to one of them but don't know when
too many other projects first
