I think this is simply one of the most beautiful re-bodied G.P. Bugattis ever, although I'm fairly sure the added weight did nothing for the performance. Herewith a summary of the known specification supplied by Bugwrench, verified against the chassis lists in Conway, as well as a list of facts I either am not sure of or simply do not know.

Type : 35B (TC)
Original Chassis Number : 4872
Current Chassis Number : 37328
Original Engine Number : 163T
Current Engine Number : unknown
Delivery date : May 1928
First owner : Reinhartz, Liege

According to Bugwrench both 4872 and 37328 have a connection to Reinhartz while Conway only ascribe 4872 to Reinhartz. He does not name the first owner of 37328, but does list its destination as Liege. Conway confirms Bugwrench's statement that 37328 is now in the USA fitted with a T35T engine. Nothing in Conway about the fate of engine 168, while Bugwrench states it to be in Europe fitted to another T37 - chassis number not specified. Conway does not list 4872 as a survivor.

Herewith what I do not know : Was this car delivered with a standard G.P. body? When was it replaced by the current sports body, who ordered the conversion and who designed and constructed the body? What colour the paint and interior after said conversion? How did an apparently genuine T35 end up fitted (wrongly it would seem) with a T37's identity? How definite is the US T37's claim to chassis number 37328?

Clearing up the mysteries surrounding this fascinating machine would make Wiki just that little closer to definitive, make Christian's life a lot easier and satisfy my own curiosity no end.

There are not confirmed interrogations

Which is this frame 37328 with an engine T35T?
Bugwrench does not give accurate informations on that, not of photographs, nor of the documents.

Which is T37 without specific chassis number which would have received engine 168 and being in Europe? : no photographs, nor documents.

For the 4872 with 163T: Not other precise details?

Is what Bugwrench can say to us on top to confirm its assertions?

I had a look through all my books on Fritz schlumpf for info and it just struck me what a sad collection of truly fabulous cars that place is. Havent been there since it had a makeover, but looking at all those static exhibits, not just Bugattis but even a Mercedes W125, 154, 300SLR and a couple of SSk's.
its just a vast inherited collection of the most amazing cars, that in almost all cases have become immobile statues.
Here we are as enthusiasts wondering the history of a particular car, but it is ironic that the last place anyone would think of to find out more about it, is the museum itself where it will remain for eternity.

I have been quoting general available information provided by known Bugatti Registrars. I mentioned the source. I have not personally inspected the Schlumpf car so I can not provide more information on that. I did not mention engine #168 but #159.
