Nice item on Dr. Bob King's Bugatti Anzani:

In the mean time Bob King has converted 4450 back to its original state by fitting a (new) Bugatti engine. Anzani engine and related bits are now fitted in a replica GP chassis so a 'T35/R Anzani' still exists.

Strange,Mr Roberts in Australia has an original T37 motor which he offered me.Why did this not get into the Anzani beast?

I am the Ken Painter mentioned in the discussion on Clive Jones' car. I have only just been put in touch with your website, so please forgive the late response!

Over the time I knew Clive he had two Bugattis, the one discussed in the comments about Crossthwait and Gardner was, as far as I knew at the time, an incomplete restoration project but of mainly genuine parts. He sent it to C & G for restoration, but the costs grew too high and he reluctantly sold it on. The little yellow one was, as is told already, a replica with a Riley engine. He loved it and probably used it more than other cars in his collection. After his death his daughter Abigail chose it and one other car as hers to keep. The remainder were auctioned in accordance with Clive's instructions in his will.

I visited Abigail on a few occasions to sort out some minor issues with the estate. I understand that Abigail moved to Scotland shortly after and She has not contacted me since, so I have no idea what has happened to the car.

Clive came up to me at Prescott and asked me if I could make him a T37 in 26 weeks.Whilst still in a state of shock I asked him why 26 weeks? His answer was that his Bugatti had been at C and G for 26 years and he felt that he might be too old to drive it by the time it was finished. He telephoned me once a month to tell me how happy he was with the car and what adventures he had had with it.I really liked Clive,he appreciated what we had done and made no bones about telling us and anyone who would listen. The final bill was about £50.000.
