ESTREZ DE SAUGE, Raymond d’.

The original owner of a 1937 type 57S with chassis no. 57522, engine no. 18S and French reg. no. 1041 RK 8. The car was delivered to him directly as a rolling chassis and was fitted with a sporting body by Dubos of Paris. It competed at Le Mans on 19th June, 1937 but retired after ninety-nine laps with gearbox problems. With Genaro Leoz again listed as co-driver the car competed unsuccessfully in the Grand Prix de l’A.C.F. and the Grand Prix de Tunis. The car was a make-weight entry in the Coupe des Prisonniers in the Bois de Boulogne, Paris on 9th, Spetember, 1945 (no. 16) but was probably the slowest of the sixteen cars entered. In 1948 or 1949 the car was re-registered in the Département Bouches-Du-Rhöne as 9189 CB 5 and on 21st May 1949 the car won the Grand Prix de Marseilles driven by Henri Degioanni. It is unclear how long d’Estrez owned the car which was converted into a short-chassis single-seater in the fifties. It was last known in the USA but its present whereabouts are uncertain.

MARIE, R.

The co-driver of a type 22 which competed in the gruelling first Le Mans twenty-four hour race held on the 26th/27th May, 1923.

With Louis Pichard he finished in a disappointing 22nd place having lost more than an hour when the car ran out of fuel on the Mulsanne straight.

Another type 22 driven by de Portales and de la Rochefoucauld finished in tenth place.

No idea. "it wasn't me".

This was the posting with the picture of the type 44, right? Let me investigate.

It was a correction to #29, where Uwe said Max de Pourtalés / Sosthene de la Rochefoucauld, but I have them as #28, with #29 being Louis Pichard / René Marie.

I didn't say that my data is the correct one, different sources may result in different data, and the function of this discussion board - as I see it - is to sort out such discrepancies. I'm here to learn, and not to win any knowledge contest. But I see no reason at all to delete my posting.

I found your posting. For some reason the posting got damaged, and the forum software will not show it anymore. Probably a database hick-up. Please post it again, I had to remove the remains of your post from the database, for integrity reasons.
I do not see other damaged postings or database entries, so posting your comments again is probably the easiest way to get things going again.
