A little update on 37265:

If you recall, we found that 37265 has a Factory number of 4127-J4 (and 37266 and 37264 had Factory numbers of 4128-J4 and 4126-J4), which means that "perhaps" 37265 was intended as a Factory works race car.

We have found now, there is a "Factory 37265" that is registered as a Factory works race car! This is exciting news, but I understand that "even if "my car - 37265" was issued the same number as the "Factory 37265", this does not mean or imply that my car was the "only" car to have had that number. I guess there are examples where more than one car used the same registration plates at the Factory.

I would like to ask the BB group, if there is any way to find proof that my 37265 could be the Factory 37265? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

In addition, although I do not have them in my possession, we have now found 55 pictures of 37265 from 1946 to 1955, and also 3 pictures of 37265 between April 1929 and April 1930 (that shows 37265 with it's October 1927 license plate).

In 1949, when 37265 was given it's roadster body, it also had a new dashboard, or at least new instruments (as the instruments were black, as opposed to the original white GP instruments), compared to when it was new. I do not have pictures of the original dashboard for 37265, so I am trying to learn more about this. Are there any pictures already on Bugatti Builder of "standard" Grand Prix dashboards for T35's, and T37's and T37A's?

Thanks,

Andrew

I've got Conway's Grand Prix Bugatti and Conway's Bugatti, but there are no pictures of T37 or T37A dashboards. There is a Type 35, 59 and Type 51. Bugatti Magnum has some Dashboard pics also. I am still looking for pictures of some Type 37 and Type 37A "standard" original GP dashboards, if you have pics, please post them!

I also own Bugatti Magnum, Eagesfield's Bugatti Book, Rafaelli's Memoirs of a Bugatti Hunter, and Conway's Bugatti, and none seem to shed any light on "Factory 37265", so I am still searching for any insights on how to track this down.

Thanks!

Great - I'll check out Flickr!!

With regard to the Factory 37265 and "examples where more than one car used the same registration plates at the Factory.", I have just learned that "Since the T37 was a production car, it is unlikely (in my opinion) that the 37265 number would have been duplicated. Potentially exciting news..."

Thanks!

I was at the Morgan Adams Concours d'Elegance at Centennial airport in Denver, Colorado, which is a benefit for Children's cancer care at the Denver Children's Hospital. A great cause. Here a few pictures of my car, 37265, and my father, Karl Larson's car, 57478:

And what post would be complete without a picture of 2 of my kids - Connor is 9, and Tyler is 5, with my parents, Karl and Madeleine in the background:

and a final picture of Tyler (5) in the driver seat!

First Herman and now Andrew has used this Forum to introduce their children to us and I for one am greatly honoured by this act of faith in our collective human decency. I just hope we prove worthy ; there's just so many weirdoes and freaks, like my good self for instance, surfing the internet these days.

Kind Regards

Dead? Not really no, just really overworked and utterly exhausted. I'm working like a galley-slave and matters are not helped by being up to my tits in angst-ridden students preparing for their final exams.

You would really let me drive your Bugatti? What a glorious human being you are Jean, and even should fate decree that we never meet I shall always remember your kind and gracious offer. Thank you Friend.

With Much Respect.
Johan

Lazarus,

Please send me a link or pictures (and pricing) of your gear lever trim to me at andrew.larson@galarson.com. Jim Stranberg of High Mountain Classics (http://www.highmountainclassics.com/index.html )is the one that works on my car, and I've relied on him help me make sure the car is race worthy and safe, and that any changes to the car are as authentic as possible. I can only assume that O.A. (Bunny) Phillips put this trim on, when he restored the car back to Grand Prix in the early 1960s, from the Roadster body.

If there is any additional constructive criticism on what else you think I should consider restoring, so the car is as original as possible (given that it has already been converted from T37 to T37A in 1949), Please let me know. Most likely, I will add magneto ignition, so the car is a proper T37A. This will probably mean putting in a new dashboard, but the current dashboard is most likely a Bunny Phillips restoration, as the pictures of the car in 1949 show a different dashboard. what do you think?

Also, on my to do list is to: change the touring steering box to a grand prix steering box, change the gas tank to a Grand Prix Gas tank (as the current tank was shortened due to the roadster body with the tire on the back), and eventually put a 4 cyclinder block on the car (as the current 1/2 of a T43 block puts the water manifold on the wrong side).

Do you think I should change the brooklands windscreen to an authentic Bugatti windscreen?
I will put new numbers (that are more period correct, if I can find them) as this number was Mike Gertner's old number from Monterey Historic and Wine Country Classic races. Probably number 9 or 19.

Thanks for the advice!

Andrew

P.S. I have a total of 4 kids, so you only saw the two little ones in the picture! (ages 14, 12, 9 and 5)
