I was able to get in touch with Yves Baillot D'Estivaux, who confirmed that the above picture is of his father in 37265, and he confirmed that his father owns a Type 40, chassis 40525, which he also sent me a picture of. it is too large to attach. He also confirmed that this above picture was taken in the courtyard of the Bordeaux Bugatti Agent, Mr Pierron. Yves Baillot D'Estivaux said he played in the courtyard all the time, as a child.

Don´t grieve Lazarus, I know one or the other so-called "Bugatti guru" who has based his reputation on other people´s work and labour. And they are all being worshipped for that. What a strange world we live in, don´t you agree ?!

Lazarus and Hal - As I am now in touch with Mr. Baillot D'Estivaux, I have learned that Mr. Pierre Yves Laugier has been the one to do the direct research with him in Bordeaux. I have received from Mr. Baillot D'Estivaux the same pictures that Mr. Laugier provided to me a couple of years ago. Although he may have received help along the way, I do not think his reputation is built on the backs of others. In this particular example, I can attest that his research is thorough was done by himself.

40525 that currently resides in the USA has a slightly different body.
Same car?

I received the email from Mr. Baillot D'Estivaux. He clearly said he owned 40525, which I would assume is the same car. I have no idea why the body would be different. I can ask him if he knows anything. I sent copies of the email to Herman and Bugatti69. Maybe they can decipher this email also.

Through my contact with the son of Mr. Baillot d'Estivaux, he found this picture in his archives, and he believed it to be 37265 at a hill climb in 1929. I am not sure, as I can not read the registration number, and the car color seems to be a little darker than the other black and white pictures I have of 37265 in 1929. Would anyone here recognize this car or this hillclimb?

the lights are installed very low on 37265 (see earlier posts in this thread), but it is hard to see the headlights in this picture.

Hello Andrew,

no Monrepos in 1929 according to this list:
http://www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/hcw4.htm
maybe when you contact Hans Etzrod he can help you ?
He must know more than only the winners (?)

good luck !

The Côte de Monrepos was no hill climb, but a speed trial (1.3 kms) at Cenon which is a Eastern suburb of Bordeaux. It was a stretch of road in west-each direction along the railway from Bordeaux to Camarsac. Some rails can be seen on the photo, so Côte de Monrepos is very likely.

Following please find the clippings from June 2, 1929 for the Cote de Bordeaux de Monrepos. You will see that Anne Itier took 2nd in 37265 and Leon Parisot took 3rd place in 37265. Leon Parisot was the owner of 37265 at the time, and lent the car to Anne Itier. As Pierre Yves Laugier said, this was probably Anne Itier first good result in a Bugatti. On the clipping below, you can see that Anne Itier was car number 33, and the number was changed to 30 for Leon Parisot.

Also, you will not that Mr. Baillot d'Estivaux participated in his Type 40, chassis 40525, with car number 7.

Also, while searching for other races, I found that Leon Parisot also raced 37265 in the 1500 class of the IV Grand Prix du Commingues in 1929. Below is the clipping from Grand Prix and Voiturette Racing:

havent posted in a while..

Thought i would share some results and pictures of 37265 at the recent August 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Michael Gans pulled out in his T35C #37228 with a broken axle, so I was the highest finishing Bugatti in 9th place.

Just downloaded my practice video from the 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

Unfortunatley, i was surprised by a very fast ERA (of mark gillies), and did not see him in my mirror. i made a slight adjustment, and it caused my left rear tire to drop off the road, and caused a spin. you can see the entire video at this link: https://vimeo.com/54562834 the spin is at around time mark 10.54.

Here are some pictures from the video:

I will download the pre-war race shortly, and I spun there during the race as well.

Just took 37265 to the 2013 Morgan Adams Concours on August 24. 37265 was joined by two other Bugatti's - chassis 441237 (Richard Procter) and 4654 (Mitch Gross)
