Thanks Jacobug for that information, would that be Edgar Bensoussan.

My question for today is where would I get wheel discs covers for this car.

Thanks

Claire

Hi Adam

I'll let you into a little secret, when I joined this forum in September 2007 I knew very little about Bugattis; indeed I knew so little I wasn't even embarrassed to ask really stupid questions! And no-one ever mocked me. Not once. Now that I have many books I understand why - every day millions of people log-on to the internet but only a handful think Bugattis more interesting than pron! It's that handful that matters and we have Herman to thank for that, before this Forum there was really no place for non-Bugatti owning enthusiasts to find an international sense of belonging - certainly not in South Africa I can tell you.

I meant scary in a good way. :P Yeah you might find the odd sub-forum in a random car forum, but mostly just full of Top Gear Veyron vids and nothing much else.

Ettore Bugatti was responsible for creating a mere 8000 cars of which roughly 1500 survive ; this is a precious, irreplaceable legacy and by sharing everything we know with anyone curious enough to stop by for a visit is a devastatingly effective way of helping to safe-guard this legacy. There are many rich tasteless buffoons who own Bugattis as status symbols, utterly ignorant of their value but obsessed with their price. Luckily there are some glorious exceptions - and all (very well, most then) of them are contributors to this forum. I find it quite thrilling to rub virtual shoulders with an arch enthusiast sharing the mechanical maladies of his T73. Pure magic.

Has a quick look around on here and the technical drawings and knowledge really is astounding. Bugattis do have a sense of class, that other marques couldn't dream of. It's bad enough to see rich and tasteless Ferrari/Lambo owners... I hope never to see the Bugatti owners you speak of.

I hope you'll stick around for a long time Adam, new blood is most welcome.
Got to go - I have some pron that's just finished down-loading!

Cheers

I think i will.

p.s. I apologise for the thread hijack Claire, I would say the car is beautiful... but I think you already know that.

Dear all

The history of 57252 is described on page 139 of the Bugatti Register The Netherlands- Belgium (NLB-2) as it has had a Belgian provenance. I would love to see a scan of all the paperwork you have available including all the numbers of the car. It looks almost identical to 57312 which was on display in Essen (NLB-2 page 145) but which now has a roll top.

It must have had a recent body up restoration where the headlamp conversion was undone. Much nicer!
Can you tell us who did the recent bodywork?

I misspelled Ben soussan (the name which I got from Michel Dovaz)

According to NLB-2 57252 is owned by Peter Rae.

Which is which?

Claire, can you send some pictures of the chassisplate and engine number?

----
As Kees edited his post, I need to do so as well. Above my original post.

Forget about the first 2 lines, then.

I will not break a promise, but I believe there is a David Sewell report for 57252 in the possession of the rightful owner of this car. I will only be able to confirm this once I have the owners permission to do so ; it was sent to me in confidence.

I have just looked at 57312 as for some unkown reason bugatti69 has gone and put my fathers and my details against this car - I have no idea why he has done this.

Bugatti69 has also deleted all my details on my car 57252.

I rolled back 57312, I will do the same with 57252 (edit: Bugatti69 corrected the WIKI already)

Here are 2 PDF files, which are the pages in NLB-2 for 57252 and 57312

much confusion, update this day on bugattiregister:

Kees modified its posts of this day, to recognize that the 57252 had been modified

See photographs:

57252: http://www.bugattiregister.com/wiki/ind ... itle=57252

57312: http://www.bugattiregister.com/wiki/ind ... itle=57312

A photograph of the plate of chassis and other details could confirm information of Claire

Thank you

Christian

I promised both Herman and the rightful owner of 57252 not to post the vitriolic response I composed. Suffice to say today has not been this Forum's finest day. It would seem even highly respected historians are not immune from getting their facts spectacularly wrong.

OK can we please decide on a spelling for the previous owner as it is showning as - Ben Soussan - currently .

I think we are up to 3 suggestions of how to spell the name now. So which do we think is correct.

My partner, Mike was getting the car ready today for the show it's entered in, Salon Prive, London.

So here are some pictures for those of you that thought we didn't know what car we had! :D

Here is a picture of the lower raked gear stick which I read to be a feature of the Grand Raid chassis.
