Hello Bugatti maniacs,

Does anyone of you have some more pictures of this strange looking Bugatti?

It most probably is a Type 30.

All help is welcome… I have planed to make a 3D Computer model of this car in the future….

Best regards,

Martijn

This is what I found in my archives:

A T30 model by Aurore in 1:43. Seems to be your car!

In the book Memoirs of a Bugatti hunter of Antoine Raffaëlli page 222, there is a photo of this one and it is specified that it is Bugatti Type 38.

Here is the picture. I will see if I can make a better one. This one is really blurry.

The text says: T38 with streamline body, made of fabric. (which does not help to preserve it. It the car still somewhere, has it been rebodied, or has it been scrapped?)

Yes, better make a regular scan instead of a picture.

It is in fact a known body, fabric - covers were not uncommon, in fact both the fabric or the metal covered bodies had a wooden frame. Advantage of the fabric was that it could flex more, where metal sheet, in case of extreme chassis/body flex could actually wrinkle.

In the roof of some of the T50T Profiléé's therefore a large part is cut-out and covered with fabric. Apparently the roof was too big, and the flex too much to allow for metal sheeting.

If this body (or the car) still exists? I doubt it, I haven't seen or heard of it being around still. An interesting design for a rebocy / replica though! (And of course a much better top speed and mileage per gallon!)
