What? Zapon = Nopaz ?? Zapon is a lacquer finish that covers paint. Pico

Forum member Uwe posted this on the German part of this forum tonight:

http://www.bugatticlub.ch/documents/Bug ... hichte.pdf

Is this true ? Was the Brescia once owned by René Dreyfus ?

Coincidentally I just finished reading Dreyfus's Autobiography, "my two lives"

I compared the photo's in the book of the Brescia he raced in 1925 (descibed as having a Lavocat & Marsaud body, pages 6&7) to the "lake-Bugatti" . There is no resemblance of the body. There is only mention of ONE Brescia in the book, owned by Dreyfus. Also the biography mentions that when Dreyfus got a 37A in 1927, the Brescia was used for his Brother's Paper business. The body of the "lake-Bugatti" would not be practical for that purpose.... So I have some considerable doubt about the story of mr. Adalbert Bodé.... Maybe his documents can prove me wrong: I hope that somebody can get hold of them and post them on this forum.

By the way: do we know the chassisnumber of the Brescia that Dreyfus owned and raced (registration 75 08 M 5) ?

By 1934 Dreyfus was in the Bugatti factory team, sometimes working as demonstrator for Bugatti Agent Monastier and sometimes driving an Alfa for scuderia Ferrari. If there was a Brescia in that time, it would not be his own but maybe a car that was a part exchanged at Monastier's - which Dreyfus got in return for his activities as demonstrator ?

Also according to Bob King's Brescia Bugatti 2461 (original engine nr. 870) is owned by a Japanese man. So which is the real 2461 ???

And http://www.bugattiregister.com mentions other names- and no mr. Bodé

So who knows more / who knows the truth ?

more info on
http://www.bugatticlub.ch/documents/History-UK.pdf

I believe the obeservations of mr. Matti are correct, but then which car is the other 2461, which was listed with Minoru Kawamoto in Japan which is said to have competed in the 1978 Macau Grand Prix. Can anyone post pictures (“Bugantics” Vol. 42, No.1 p.11) of this event ?

2 cars having the same chassisnumber 2461 -
Probably caused by the same kind of care grise "borrowing" as with 57749.

and they say cloning is only developed in the eigties.... :D :D :D :D

Makes me wonder: if I can get hold of enough parts and/or some vague old documents, maybe I could also claim 2461....
Then there are three and we could have a quiz show.
Will the real 2461 rise please :D :D :D :D

Ce n'est pas le 2461 mais le 2260

voir http://www.bugattiregister.com/wiki/ind ... title=2260

In 2006 the car was listed with Minoru Kawamoto in Japan as 2461 who has owned it since the seventies. Showing the car competing in the 1978 Macau Grand Prix.

Type 22 Brescia > Car shown here rebuilt to T13 specification by Alan Wragg

Saturday the Lago-Bugatti is sold for - including costs - € 260.000,-- Mr. Braam Ruben bought the car for Peter Mullin. Mr. Mullin is going to exhibite the car unrestored together with the unrestored cars of Arlette Schlumpf (part of the Malmerspach Collection) in his new museum in Oxnard, Californie. Mullin bought the Schlumpf cars from Mr. Braam Ruben, too.

The car has been sprayed with wax or some acrylic resin to prevent further decay. Nice video.
