Those of you who have read my recent article in Bugantics may have been surprised that i seem not to have read it myself ! The captions to two photographs would certainly suggest this. The T252 differential pattern was of course not made in Paris and the T251 backplate is for drum brakes not discs. The caption to the gearbox pattern 251 CV 18 photo suggests that it is a hollow box containing patterns. This is not the case. This pattern is the main print and is solid. The coreboxes which go with it are separate.I recently received extra information which relate to the patterns. Some of the originals were damaged in an allied air raid.I said in the article that Bugatti made new patterns to replace those "old ones[which] were in molsheim".This is not correct. He did make new patterns but the originals were not at that time in Molsheim.Needless to say I did not write the captions to my article ! |
