Recently I read the article in Classic & Sporstcar about the 5 litre T16, which will be auctioned soon.

This car from 1912 has in fact a very impressive performance, with a top speed of 180km/h (115 mph).

Now I remember having read somewhere, long ago, that this car could indeed accelerate to 100km/h in 7 seconds. Is this true? The car weighs over 1200kg, and has 100hp, so it seems questionable to me.

Can anybody clarify??

A Fiat Marea is approx 1200 kgs, and has just over 100 HP. Sprint from 0-100 km/h is 10,5 seconds.

I have no idea how much torque 471 has. Probably more than a Fiat Marea... (larger pistons)

The 2.5litre SS100 Jaguar is around the same weight and horsepower, but with smaller diameter wheels and lower gearing; it did 0-60mph in circa 13 seconds. I think 471 would not have been that much quicker, if at all, even if it had more torque from its 5 litres.
