on another board where Ferrari are discussed a member posted some pictures of a Garage Siebenthal in Lusanne taken in 1978. I don't doubt that they are real, the man who took them is the poster. among the shot is this of a semi-derelict Bugatti. It seems to be an Atlantic, but which one was it ? I believe it is too early to be one of the E. Koux reproductions.

My guess is that this is the car now owned by Dutchman Dries van der Lof (Also a well known Ferrari owner). If this is correct the body was build by de Dobbeleer. Chassis number is not clear to me.. In Volume 1 of the Dutch Bugatti register the following possibilities are mentioned: 57312 , 57195 & BC 084 The van der Lof car was described in a couple of old Dutch car magazines. The last known color was red. ![]() |

From the 1978 picture: 1) Headlights mounted high on stalks above fenders (not normal Atlantic configuration that are known) 2) windscreen wipers are mounted "high" 3) turn signal -- really irrelevent to make legal Given the reflectsion on the left side and "soft focus" -- it looks like the picture was taken through a window. I'm contacting the original photographer to see if he has better or higher resolution pictures. There were (4) Atlantics -- three with known history and one missing. 4th factory one (missing) was probably broken up during the war |

The shape of the side window is not correct. Get the feeling that the roof is lower or the nose is higher then on a real Atlantic. In the best case it is a recreation based on a standard type 57. So It is no real Atlantic… |

I didn't think it was one of the 4 originals but weren't the Koux replicas done in the last 20 years ? surely not long ago to have been layed up in Luasanne in 1978 ? |

Dries van der Lof is unfortunately also no longer with us. He died a long time ago. Bugwrench |

Messing with licence plates seemingly was popular even in that period... |
