A type 23/27 fittted with engine 66, a 30mm Zenith carburettor, an SEV magneto and a 13x45 rear axle supplied to “Le Claux” with a factory invoice dated 15th May, 1923.

In the twenties the car is thought to have been used as a taxi in the Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret and in 1929 it was issued with the registration 8106 RB 9 in the Departement Seine. Its first known owner was Louis Françcois Arfeuille who put the car in storage on blocks. His ownership is recorded as 1930 to 1955.

In 1955 the car was re-registered as 457 AA 23 and its new owner is thought to have been Meuf de la Courtine. In any case, it was acquired in 1958 by B. Dalmas who kept it for eighteen years until Dutchman Hans Oosterbahn bought it on 12th March 1977. The car, which has remained in long-chassis format with a Lavocat et Marsaud body and its original engine, had seen little use since the thirties but appears to have been carefully stored and to have retained all its original features. It was listed in the 2005 “Bugatti Register The Netherlands Belgium Vol.1 (p.6) with historic and recent pictures. Its year of production was given as 1924 which must be incorrect. (This error has also been carried over into the Bugattiregister). The first picture shows the car "still in the possession of Palmas (sic)" presumably taken when Oosterbaan was interested in buying the car. In 2006 it participated in the PAC Jubileum Brummen and was listed by Bob King as still being in the ownership of H. Oosterbaan in the Netherlands. However, according to Bugattiregister.com the car had been bought in 2003 by Martin Dijkhof (NL) and in 2010 it is listed as owned by Hugo Modderman. Recent pictures show the car with the Netherlands registration AM 04 76.

N.B. The car was pictured in the Bugatti Trust photo album 04 (no. 234) with the note that it was fitted with engine 555 which seems unlikely. This mistake (?) has been carried over into the Bugattiregister.com. Registration information provided by Claude Schneider.

WIKI action proposed - In my opinion reference to engine 555 should be deleted and date of production should be changed to 1923.

Incorrect inormation deleted after advice from Bugatti69 below.

A type 23/27 completed in 1923 fittted with 69x100mm engine numbered 75, a 30mm Zenith carburettor, an SEV magneto and a 13x45 rear axle. It was supplied to the “Magasin Paris” (according to the 2009 Netherlands Register, page 11, delivery took place in January 1923) with a factory invoice dated 15th May, 1923. The car was fitted with a three-seater torpedo body by L. Marot-Pot (Oeters & Cie) at 160 Rue de la Revolte, Levallois-Perret (on the outskirts of Paris).

On 27th January 1925 the car was registered (as a type 27) to an unknown owner in the Département Paris as 1868 U4. On 3rd April 1926 ownership passed to Roger Landreaux of Chemin de la Cour, Mesnil St. Denis and the car was given the registration 450-Z77 in the Département Seine et Oise (information researched by Claude Schneider). It should be noted that throughout it retained its original engine and coachwork. In 1974 it was listed with Henri Fougeaud, in Brie, France and carried the French registrations 1610 QH 16. It later passed to Brabant in Belgium but retained its previous French registration. In 1992-3 it was exhibited at the Centre International de l'Automobile in Paris and in July 2005 it participated in the Commémoration Circuit des Ardennes.

In 2006 the car was completely restored by Bruno Vendiesse and offered for sale at the Techno Classica exhibition in Essen. It was then purchased by Michel Kampmann (F) and issued with the French registration 7973 YY 27. With his wife Colette he participated in the 2007 International Rally in Corsica (no. 10). In 2008 the car was displayed on the stand of the Club Bugatti France at Rétromobile in Paris. In 2009 the car appeared at the International Rally held in Tuscany driven by Kampmann and, as a consequence of its ownership by Brabant in Belgium it was given a full-page listing on page 11 of "The Bugatti Register – The Netherlands Belgium 2008-2009.

Listed in Wiki as a type 22 - should be type 23 ?
