On Jap's bugatti page, there is mention of another type 44 plus another bugatti but no foto..
found in a barn...in France----and with fotos...
fascinating and therefore possible.

This one was already mentioned in C&SC issue of april 2010. It has a body by Thietard of Paris and was found by Christoph Grohe together with a Voisin C24 in the Valance region in France.

info from his site:
Bugatti Type 44 Roadster par Thiétard, Paris, 1930
Stored in a garden for more than 40 years. For restoration. Sold December 2009.

also see: http://www.bugattiregister.com/wiki/ind ... t_Thietart

Funny how slow news can be. And that C&SC doesn't remember writing about the car before: it seems the Voisin has turned into a Bugatti now. Well... both French cars - don't they all look alike

now I am gonna check my Georgano if it is Thietard or Thietart
Edit: Georgano says it is Thiétard

You are right! It is the same one!

Strangely, I had some hunch that I had seen it before, but could not figure out where.

I'm very sorry if I gave somebody false hopes!

Jaap: Can happen - I imagine you see a lot of pictures flashing by every day....

But C&SC ? Recycling old news and changing a Voisin into a Bugatti. Must be "knollentijd" - you know what I mean  Journalistic accuracy - not this issue.

I have every issue since number one but I think the quality is gradually declining. And you still can't subscribe and pay them directly in Euro's so buying separate issues at my local Bruna is cheaper and faster (I had a subscription once). I should consider to stop buying this mag, but hey- every month it gives me an hour or two of relaxation.

quite right you are, and I think a pic of that car is also in the newest issue of C%SC.
I bought it regulary in the early 8o`s, but after some time I switched to " the automobile" which I have from nr. 1.

regards
mike

Can we be absolutely sure that it is the same car ?
the foto on Jap's site shows 2 rear spares- with tyres..
The one in the open had no tyres on the spares.
if it is the same body but not the same car ?
and to err about a Voisin //Bugatti in the same building ?
The buildings are also different-with red saloon alongside?
and it mentions a different person found it to Mr Grohe.....

Definitely the same: the rust hole in the rear (rumble seat) deck,
the steps on the rear fenders to get in the rumble seat
the lines of the front fenders.

Grohe sold it in december 2009, probably to the person where the C&SC reporter found it now, hence the different buildings

"The other Bugatti" is probably a mistake, it would have said so in the first notice, but then it was "only" a Voisin.
