at least 44660 doesn't appear in the online Bugatti register - so there seems to be no car already claiming this number / this makes it a bit more probable that this item is genuine.

I do not want to start a certain discussion again but to me these items would look much better on a car. Maybe who knows somewhere there are enough remains of the car for a partial reassembly.

Meanwhile I think this "thing" that was created with the remains of this chassis is just hideous ! It shouts Bugatti too much (did I write that ? :D ).

I think these items would look much better in a normal frame with some pictures of the car they were once on. More subtle and with respect for the remains....

But then who am I...

I've just edited the title of this tread !
Why ?
Because it is a deja-vu ! see topic:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2111

Same car (if there was any- which I now seriously doubt) same mr. Jamie Simmons.
Or is he selling the credentials of the car to fund the restauration of the rest of the remains ? Probably not.

His story where it al started - at Jaap's site - doesn't check up with what he is now offering. Until I see proof otherwise I don't believe there was ever more than this in mr. Simmons's possession. He is even suggesting to build a new car around it.....

If this can be called a car, then I own half a Bugatti. (I have an original Bugatti logo and a patents sign). The rest can be "restored"...

So Johan was right in that aspect.
Let's close this thread now- and let us be careful when the name Jamie Simmons turns up again !

I would like to repeat that: Johan was right! He appears to have a better nose for frauds than most on this Forum.
Do you read this Johan?

I deeply regret what's apparently been done by mr. Simmons regarding the 44660. The plate sure seems legit and original but trying to build around it a whole new car totally evades my idea of "restauration". As much as it hurts me saying this, Johan was right...

Whether or not I can spot a fake is irrelevant - I do not believe I've ever prevented a fraud, nor do I believe I ever will - there is just too much money involved.

All my ranting and all my raving has achieved the sum-total of eff-all. It is out of the hands of enthusiasts and into the greedy paws of scum. R.I.P. Bugatti.

Hi Lazarus, not hiding from the forum, just hiding from computers in general. I've rediscovered reading, and, rather conveniently, I also rediscovered my book collection.

And pondering .......................... something is more than nothing. Some of 57473 survive. Not enough to claim the identity. Something is more than nothing. I'm not done pondering.

Kind Regards
Johan

I notice that the price for this chassis plate is now £5000 and apparently it comes with the english papers. This is actually, if genuine not unreasonable.Given the problems of registration for cars, like my daughters, which is mainly T44 original parts but which cannot claim a particular number.Of course unless you have all the correct mechanical parts for this actual number you do not have this car,If I knew what chassis number related to my daughters T44 bits It would be easier to register.Nobody seems able to tell me what chassis number goes with component number 229......Does anybody know what T44 Uno Ranch cut up? There is a clue in that the front axle was bent and the car had clearly been in an accident.

from the fotos, the "english papers "were merely the dvla documents to fill in to transfer.. there was no sight of a log book, V5 or etc...related to the plate.
