they are offereing the car for sale at the Paris auction next february
this actually got me wondering if there are more Bugatti's body's build by Veth & Zoon
does anybody know this?
and where could i find more info on Veth & Zoon coachbuilders?

At least there's a type 44 with a similar body as the one on the 46. If I recall it correct, the customer first ordered the 44 and later wanted something similar, but bigger, hence the 46. I also know of a type 57 with Veth body.

If I start searching seriously, I must be able to find to find the copy of Automobile Quarterly containing an article on coachbuilder Veth.

Regards,
Patrick

The 57 see bugattiregister.com: 57770

Cannot find the 44 in the register though. I know it too - will look it up later.

When I last saw the 46 it was still red, I was quite amazed to see it "pimped": as it is now.

There is more info on Veth on
http://www.conam.info/veth.htm where the 46 is falsely stated to be a 49.

The company still exists: http://www.veth.nl/#GO(/veth.nl/home/geschiedenis.html)
(contains also a fault: ever heard of a Hispanoza Suiza)

The 44 which has a body similar to the T46 is not by Veth (I do not know the coachbuilder maybe from germany?)

The T57 is probably the nicest body by Veth on a Bugatti.

I do not know about any others than these two.

hoi patrick

yes i already found out about the T57 Berline

it is listed here:
http://www.coachbuild.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=65
those are all Veth & Zoon cars already
so they have 2 "known" Bugatti's listed

I have AQ almost complete from 1 till 30
and i have read them all basically, but off the top of my head can't recall a story on Veth & Zoon
i should really get those summary issues to look that up
but good to know there has been an article about them, now i just want to (re-)read it

The type 44, also first owner mr. Klos from Yierseke had a body made by Ieteren freres. For many years the property of mr. Eggy de Flines of Amsterdam, now owned by d'Ieteren themselves

Yes, that is the car, happily not yet '' restored'' like the type 46 with the Veth body.

I go haywire when they start "restoring" cars ala Ralph Lauren. What's wrong with them people? For me restoration is exactly what the word says: restore it to its original state!

Conam has updated their site already (!) after I mailed them yesterday evening that the 49 was in fact a 46...
EDIT 2: Rutger Booy (of PWC and Conam) informed me that a Conam member is writing a book on Veth (on request by Veth).

(I also mailed Veth on the Hispanoza issue but that is still wrong- maybe in e few days...)

(will check for the 44's chassisnumber and post tonight if possible)
EDIT The 44 is chassis 44637 not by Veth but by D'Ieteren. The T49 was -body-wise a "copy" of the D'Ieteren body made by Veth.

The restyling of the 46 must be post-2004.

had a "playdate" with this car today
according to the wiki the owner is the american william larson
but he died in 2005-2006 when the car was half-way through restoration
since 2006 the car was bought by a british owner who finished restoration
final "touches" where done about 6 months ago

So, this Dutch Bugatti, with an almost continuous history in the Netherlands, will it return?

Any of the Dutch enthusiasts is going to bid?
