Udolahr wrote: How big is the market for Bugatti spare parts today ? It depends upon what model the Bugatti parts will fit to be honest and the quality of the parts themselves. (NOS, used, rebuilt, reproduction or pursang) That market will always be bigger than what I need now -- Alfa P3 engine and drivetrain gear parts (that aren't Argentina clones) |

" companies in the UK manufacturing quality parts ". Do you know why England lost his entire automotive industry ? I am driving Jaguars for over 35 years , I know why , about quality . If I order today " 2010 " jaguar parts , for example valve guides , some are longer , some are shorter , and some do not fit at all . Today I did put 12 new made valves from a well known english company into a cylinderhead . But I had to machine the ends , so the valves go in the valve guides . We had a diesel engine production in England , just gess why we stopt making parts for this engine in England . This are just a few examples , and I better do not start about the tool machines industry . And you talk about quality ? |

That I can confirm. The quality of the English engine components was in former times unfortunately not good. I worked many years in a company for engine repair. I had my experiences. How today is the quality of engine components ? |

what autoparts ? Jaguar was bought from Ford ,so in this time many Ford parts. Jaguar today is sold to India . Rover is sold to China ( Rover is closed ). Bentley and RR is BMW and Volkswagen . Bentley and RR started years ago to buy German engines , today there are only german parts inside . TVR is closed . Austin and Morris are closed for long time . Gess what you will find inside a Aston Martin ? What is left , there is nothing left . Norton , Thriump,BSA and others closed years ago . All about quality . There are no toolmachines left , all about quality . Good example is Jaguar . After Ford bought Jaguar , Ford invested millions to bring the company buildings up to date . The Jaguar company was a dirty cave . Ford did buy new machines and invested a lot in development . So the best Jaguar ever made was a Ford , the X300 . Last year I did visit many companys in the London area with transver presses . I tought I am in a black and white movie from the 1950 . Everything is to old , worn aut and dirty . I am surprised people work in this places . so much about quality . The first thing the Ford manager did in the Jaguar company , was hang up signs with " Quality" . |

Its reassuring to know that when Audi decided to "recreate" their heritage with the Auto Union project, They Turned to the English company of Crosthwaite & Gardner to do this difficult task rather than keep it German. I think that speaks volumes... |

do you know how many cars Audi builds in a year ? Or better in a day , in a minute ? Do you think this guys like to play with one old car . It is much cheaper to give this jop to someboddy else . Today we fly to moon and mars and you talk about a difficult task with an old car ? |

Yes - but they didnt entrust it to a German restoration company. The English motor industry has died for many reasons, but efficiently mass producing VWs and BMWs and manufacturing for low volume - be that Formula one cars or vintage Bugatti parts are two completley different things. Its not rocket science. |

I take it easy , and thank you for your help . But I have to deal with this " quality parts " made in England every day , and it drives me crazy . Or do you think it is normal to order 20 Jaguar pistons , to have at the end 12 good ones with the same diameter and weight for a V12 ? |

Greg , I see parts made in England every day. made in small numbers for Aston Martin ,Jaguar , Norton , Austin Healey and more . The quality is a joke , there is no quality . Or better there is no quality controll . And the english car industry went down about quality . |

This thread is about French Bugattis and not about a German 'engineer' complaining about English produced parts. Thank you. Bugwrench |
