Find it depressing how slap-dash some of the albums are. Example, type 251 album. Pictures 135 and 136A show cars known as 001 and 002 at Rheims. However, caption says both pictures show car 001. Also included is a picture of type 252 drawing which obviously belongs in the 252 album.

If they made it "open source" then people could make comments, and things would be corrected. See the photo server of Bugattibuilder.

Same goes for the WIKI.

If one looks closely, there are many more errors in the Trust photo albums. The T101 album has a T57 wrongly noted as 101504, in the T72 album there is a drawing of a T75 motorcycle.
And then I did not check chassis numbers.

Of course, there are quite valuable documents in their own right, even when they are named wrongly.

Pity however that they are so very nervous about copyright, with relatively small pictures with "Trust" printed all over the place.

Photos are stamped to discourage reproduction. As far as I know the Trust will sell you copies of any pictures in the albums so it can't be too worried about copyright.

However, the history of most of the pictures is too obscure for copyright to be an issue.

Its a shame there isn't much engagement between the Trust and bugattibuilder. There would be much mutual benefit.

Hi,

I once contacted them for some pictures I was interested in.
The answer was 10£ per picture.
However they are sent electronically and I still have to print them by myself.
I don't know how good they scanned the originals and therefore the print result as well as the capability of amplifying the size might be quite limited.
Also the copies should only be privately used.
I guess that most of the picture collections were either offered to the trust or at least most of those pictures were not been taken in order to earn money with it.
I can't understand why they claim a copy right fee.
I would call it a way to make money what in my opinion shouldn't be the goal of a club or a trust.

Greetings:

Minime

Some of the pictures at the Trust were donated by myself to Hugh Conway or David Sewell. I had taken some of the pictures myself but now they appear on the Internet obscured by BT logos.

The positive side is, that many of these pictures also appear elsewhere, and can be used in publications, as the Trust can not successfully claim the copyright.

However boys, the Trust still is the only publicly accessible Bugatti Archive worldwide, they have done a tremendous job on cataloguing all kinds of info on Bugatti, and of course in scanning all the thousands of drawings they hold, which are extremely useful when you need details for your restauration (not for building a replica!, shit, that was another thread)

Oh yes, and if you ask them for 2 measurements, which can be taken from an item in their showroom, they send you bogus info. (after sending 4 reminders, weekly)...

So I guess if you need info, the best thing still is going there in person.
