I believe it is not a hydraulic shockabsorber , can it be a lubrication system ? |

Do you have a bigger, clearer picture? Also the location (where on the car) it is? |

this is the best foto I have . In the back you see the engine sump . The part is very low to the road . The rear front axel hanger must be at the right side . |

Don't you know anything Udo. This is the right hand rear spring hanger as fitted to some of the production Royales (not fitted on 41121 or 41141 or the prototype). It contains two large springs that act between the leaf springs and the chassis as a shock damper. A smaller version was also fitted to the Type 50. |

I thought it must be the spring hanger , but I can not see the spring going inside . And I am not sure the left side has the same part . Do you have any cut away drawing or something like it , what shows the function inside ? |

Can it be an aftermarket power steering device ? I've driven a vintage Bentley once that had period power steering and -braking If it is next to the sump on the right side it is close to the steering mechanism Just guessing... ![]() |

Neither of the T50's that I restored had this nor did any that I examined during the rebuilds....They did use american "snubbers" which seemed only to slow the drop of the axle using leather straps. |

As I said it is the device fitted to the front spring hanger to try and eliminate shocks through the steering column. It is drawing number 41 CH 329, described as attache arriere antireaction du ressort avant droite. |

I just found another picture from another Royale , taken from the front . It looks like the spring goes inside this part . |

Well maybe not every Type 50, but some. They were also fitted to a lot of Type 57's. If I had the intelligence to upload photos, I would show you some. |
