I guess 5 or 6mm would not make a big difference, but are the cable ends periodic?

It looks to me 6mm is to big . I do not anderstand the question " periodic" ?
It is one cable , it goes from one wheel through a pipe to the other side to the second wheel . So the cable can move to make a compensation . And you can see the cable is double up to behind the tire . All the older Bugatti cars had this system .The Type 4 has a pipe with 26x4 mm , so the hole has 18mm , If this hole is 18mm , how big is the cable ?

No "periodic" is an interesting new word for what I think should be "in period" or "as original."

OK, to be more clear: The fittings on the cable look crap. Did the original have these kind of fittings?

this is a standard fitting today . Type 4 did use it . I better do not show the fitting Bugatti did use for the Type 5 . It looks like , Bugatti did build the Type 5 over night with everything he can get from his shelf .

Why not copy the system used for the baby bugatti? The cable is run through a tube, then returns through the same tube, the tube is crushed and the cable soldered within.
