while strolling through a book on world`s motor-museums, Ive found a nice description of the söderström collection.
they had 11 bugattis on display, the oldest a T13 from about 1912/13 up
to a T57 from 1939. but the most interesteing bugatti waas , as described.
" there is also an amusing hybrid type 55/57, a T55 with a T57style 3,3 liter engine and untypical grand prix body. purists might call this a T54/57
because the T55 consists of a T51 engine in a T54 chassis.......

does anybody know??

regards
mike

Dear Mike:

The T55/57 "hybrid" is chassis no. 55223, originally fitted with engine no. 26 which is now fitted to Geoffrey St. John's chassis no. 55221. Chassis 55223 retains its original front axle and chassis frame, but little else of the original T55.

Cheers,

Sandy
