According to my info, the type 27 is the 16 valve engine for the type 22 and type 23. Do you have more info on this car? Chassis number? Photo of the engine? Sounds interesting... |

Can anyone tell me who bodied this car and also if the wingline is original? Could the design of the wings have inspired the the T55's and Esder's Royale's wingline? I remain unsure of the uniqueness of this flowing wingline; was this allready an established styling feature, or is it unique to Bugatti? Gaston Grummer bodied a T38 with a similar, but not identical, wingline. Did they use this feature on other marques? At this year's Pebble Beach there was a Locomobile Model 48 Healey (Is Healey the coachbuilder?) with a hint of something similar starting at the back of the running board, but not close enough, it seems to me, to have inspired the above Brescia. Does anyone know more about the origins of this styling feature? Regards Johan Buchner |

My copy of The Brescia Bugatti by Bob King arrived this morning and during a much extended lunch-hour I did the page-through-and-look-at-the-photos and then, while doing the read-the-captions-and-take-note-of-the-pretty-ones phase, I discovered this car on p238. Turns out this car is still wearing its original body by Michel Bigatti in Nice. How the heck did a fabric covered body survive so well? Herewith a summary of the information provided: Type: 23/27 Chassis no: 2615* Engine no: 1013 Owner: Olof Godin (aquired in 1970) Coachwork: Fabric body with Victoria top by Michel Bigatti, (Is this the correct spelling or a typo?) Nice According to the text this car was owned by M. Vincent from France before being taken to Sweden by Mr Godin. The (*) next to the chassis number indicate that the result of the author's research differ from the research provided by the owner. I hope to be able to provide more information on this once I've had time to study the text in more detail. Now you will have to excuse me, I have a new book. I think I'll take the rest of the afternoon off. After all, the sun is shining, the ocean is full of summer and there is a delightfull little cafe right on the beachfront.
