According to my info Bugatti entered 4 works cars for this event: - T35B (4913) for Divo - T35C for Chiron - T35C for Foresti - T37A for Minoia For the 2 T35C Conway lists 4870 and 4871, however, I doubt 4871 as this car was sold by the Bugatti showroom Paris to Mme. Jannine Jennky, and registered by her on 12 May 1928 with "916-E27". The Targa was on 6 May, and 6 days only for transport home, overhaul, delivery to Paris, and sale is more than unlikely. Conway also mentions for the blank number 4869 the possibility of a Targa Florio works car. 4914 was road registered at Strasbourg on 21 March 1928 with "6538-J4". On the same day 4914 was registered with "6537-J4", but the earliest reported duty was only the Grand Prix de la Marne at Reims on 5 July 1928. Possibly scheduled for the Targa?? Who has access to the French registration files in order to check which other cars had been registered by the factory on 21 March 1928? Who has good resolution photos of the TF works cars in 1928? |

Thank you! However, that's not the reply I hoped for.... One of the T37A therefore was the works car for Minoia, and the other was probably Conelli's car for the Targa (although this seems to have been a private entry). I am quite sure that 4870 has been registered also before the TF, and possibly also 4869 and 4871. Any chance to find out? |
