Ok guys what do we know about these cars particularly the first 50.

All contributions and info photos etc...... Most welcome

Hi Udo Im intrested in the second seris T13 1612 to 1650? what was the engine in the car you had?
Did it have a sepperate steering box?

the car is back in France . I only made the engine . But I can get a foto .

For a good photo of the separate, bolt-on (and adjustable) steering wheel, see page 31 of the Italian Bugatti Register 2009, chassis 1645 with engine no. 40. I cannot scan it for you, sorry.

I say "adjustable" because the flange on the upper crankcase has a series of holes which enable you to set the angle of the steering box (and, thus, column) according to coachwork and seating requirements. The design was obviously a weak point, as it was replaced by the truly integral steering box after 75-100 engines (the number is higher than previously thought.) I used to own engine no. 5 ex-1615 and part of the flange had broken off earlier in its life.

Hi Sandy,
You are tust the man.
The trust have a great photo as well im interested in the cars, my belief is that they may all have been T13 with twin magnetos but im looking for more examples. sadly there seem few period photos.
Whats your view on 1612 -1650? were they all race cars?

The example I cited, chassis 1645 is a T23 which originally had a touring body and is single ignition, so it is unlikely they were all race cars. There do not seem to be many survivors of the immediate post-1612 Brescia's and even fewer with their original engines (and steering boxes) still fitted.

My engine no. 5 was twin magneto and found around 1950 near Schenectady, New York fitted to a sprint car owned by "Pappy" Grizbach. The twin magnetos and aluminum cradle were intact and fitted, but I have never found a photo of this car and installation.

Hi sandy thats Interesting are there any non T13's before 1640?
Are we sure 1645 was a 23 ? is that from the sales records?

I can't answer your question. I was told my no. 5 engine was out of a T22, but I have no idea how this information was know, seeing as the rest of the car was missing (and, reportedly, stolen.)

Of course, many T22's were racing models, including many of the "real" separate steering box, ball-bearing crankshaft cars.

The original 1924 Florida registration for another untraced Brescia, chassis 1646 was discovered by Duesenberg historian and restorer, Randy Ema in 2003 and it was also listed as a T23.

Regrettably, the Factory notes covering this segment of Brescia history is missing.
