I didn't know that I need a permission to ask questions in the Bugatti Forum . Do I need your permission ? If you do not like my questions , why do you look at them ?
About the Mercedes SLR I am lucky , I have everything .
But the reasons for my questions , for example . De Dietrich and I suport the Royale project . Very similar situation with the T57s .
Next week end is in the De Dietrich castle a meeting about this projects.

I have to say Udo- if you didn't post your questions, this forum would be an even bleaker place.

I agree with you Greg, sadly no one apart from me is interested in the postwar Bugatti's otherwise we could have fun chatting about the T73C,here is my engine just about ready for bench testing [ after only 27 years]

The observant will have noticed that Bugatti provided an automatic oil feed to the front [and rear ] blower bearings. The oil system is quite special, the pressure relief valve has two valves in it.This of course cannot possibly work as the weakest will always open first and the stronger will never open. But they are not both pressure relief. The weaker valve is a non return valve to keep oil up in the head and all the oil pipes. This caused much head scratching until it was fully understood. Most cars have the second valve removed.[probably because people could not work out what it was supposed to do.] Leaving it out seems to do no harm.

Will it not cause a couple of turns "oilless" when starting up? Or will the oil not flow back anyhow?

I personally do not believe that the non return system can work as it is arranged. There are two feeds to the supercharger gears on top of the "supercharger bellhousing".These are on the same banjo bolt as the camshaft feed pipes [ two at front and two at rear ] there is nothing to stop oil from the camshaft pipes bleeding down onto the blower gears when the engine is stopped. If the blower gears got their oil from the main engine feed then it might all work as designed.Of course there is no guarantee that the pipes fitted to the four complete cars are as Bugatti wanted them to be....These cars were supplied as "kits" for owners to assemble for themselves.........

Yes, this forum might benefot from more technical knowledge. It is very difficult, however, as most Bugattistes tend to "sit" on their knowledge, or at least do not publish it on the Internet.

So to anyone: show your workshop! Tell us what is going on there. Which problems do you encounter, and how do you solve them?

cracks in the main bearing caps . Is it a T57 engine problem ? This is the second t57 engine with cracks in nearly all main bearing caps .
