Post subject:  T57 front axle coating

Hello all,

I have a question concerning originality of T57 front axle coating.
On several occasions I have seen that front axles of T57's as well as all other Bugatti types were either nickel plated chromed or just polished.
In order to avoid a mistake if such a job should come up on our car I would like to know what the correct thing to do is.
I found some traces of either chrome or nickel on the steering rod as well as on some of the accessories but I haven't found any traces on the axle itself.

Thanks for your comments.

Greetings:

Very Interesting Question.

my humble view bellow
1) Polished- great
2) Nickeled- hmm-acceptable ish i.e. if the brightwork was nicleled in period
3) Chromed- never (not even an American would do this these days) :D apologies to my colonial cousins

Thanks for the fast reply,

The T57 has chrome plated radiator shell as well as most of the brightwork.
