Coming from outside the Bugatti collector field, I wanted to hear some opinions on whether the 1956 Bugatti Type 101 C Ghia Roadster built by Ghia is considered to be a Bugatti built by Bugatti because it is built on the frame 101-506 of a T101. I read today that chassis even says "Fini" (the End) in the end of the chassis number. I thought Virgil Exner Sr. did the exterior and Jr. the interior but then read today that Virgil Exner Jr. did the body design. It was following a drawing done by Sr. in an article in Esquire mag. on retro design. The car was presented at Turin 1965. Since it was bodied after Bugatti went under, I am wondering whether purists consider it a Bugatti. Also among owners, is Irving Tushinsky a famous collector? What about Mr. Anderson (I have no first name). . The Blackhawk Behring Museum bought it in about 1984 and sold it in December 1988 to William Lyon. Thanks for any opinions. I am interested in the Exners design portfolio. |

I think Lepoix made the T 101 design . |

I think the Exner roadster is generally accepted to be the last Bugatti. A real Bugatti in the sense that: the chassis is original, and the chassis has not had an other body before. Also; by my knowledge, the chassis was bought directly from the factory. |
