I got the following message by Email, and I wanted to share this with you:

This T35A (replica?) has the magneto through the dash, and the rev counter above the steering wheel, drive by the belt from the magneto, just like GP cars.
This way it looks more like a T35 GP with a T38 or a T35A engine.

The fact that wire wheels have been fitted can be simple:
There is no need to exchange the rear axle, when driving on a short circuit. Wire wheels are easily exchangable, from 21 to 19 or 18 inch, cheap and effective, when it comes to changing gear ratio.

This might also be the reason for the wire wheels on the type 51, discussed in another thread.

Is the conclusion then that the "type 35A" claiming to be 4842 is in fact a new vehicle manufactured by Duthu ?

If so, it looks like a beautiful piece of high-quality engineering, but can it be called a Bugatti ?

I could not locate the photograph referenced in the "T35A-Duthu-Replica" thread, but it should be noted that David Duthu owns Chassis no. 4631, the ex-Seferian T35A. He used to own the ex-John Kleen T37/R, but sold it after he bought 4631. I assume the photograph depicts 4631...it is a very dark blue with (in my opinion), headlights mounted a bit too high on the bracket stalks. On the other hand, it does render the car fairly easy to identify.

It seems redundant to say this, but, yes, the David Duthu T35A is not a replica and is not "4842"...it is chassis 4631. The two photos shown were taken at Watkins Glen, September of 2007.

The above entries as well as the photo as found in Wiki for 4631 in my opinion are wrong.
The Williams T35A was #4747 with registration 1747-U5, and at the 1926 GP de l'ACF at Miramas 3 T39 were entered, but for sure no T35A.

The photo has been taken indeed at the GP de Provence at Miramas, but it shows Raymond Savon with a T37 and Marcel Magnier with a T22 Brescia. Standard statistics mix these 2 numbers up.
