As I look at "replicas", I am reminded that there are some things which are too silly as to be a source of anger. Currently on Ebay there is a "replica" 1929 Bugatti race car item number: 180229196446. This is a real piece of work! Actually, the workmanship doesn't look all that bad, it's the fact that it bears absolutely no resemblence to anything Bugatti would have built. The flying lady hood ornament is a delightful touch though. Apparently, there are a lot of these VW kits that were sold. I have never seen one on the road so I suppose we can assume most of them are sleeping virgins rotting away behind the barns of America. |
