Type 40 #40307 (Mini type 57S)

The picture above cames from the Price book about the type 40. According to the text presented in the book the car was commissioned by Jean to test the market for a small sports car in the difficult climate of the late thirties. The license plates show the numbers 401 CP 67 and 343 786. Any more information / pictures available on this car?

The car is said to exist, though I have never seen a recent picture of it anywhere. Maybe it's in one of the registers?

It's a very interesting car, as it points out a very important lack in car development at Molsheim: There was no successor developed to the T40! As the T44 was developed through T49, finally to end with T57 and T57S, there was no similar development of the T40. Especially in the difficult pre-war years (after 1935), a smaller car would have enabled car production to maintain at an acceptable level. As the situation was now, Molsheim production was 95% autorail, with sometimes less than 100 cars built per year, thus the factory changed in character, away from being an automobile factory.....

Strangely, during and after the war, car development was mainly about small cars, with T65, T73, T102, T125 and T252.
