Post subject:  Bugatti wheel balancing weights

Hi,

The cast Type 35 wheels have tapped holes for up to 10 wheel balancing weights.

Has anyone a picture of what the original weights look like? Or even better a picture and some dimensions.

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

SB

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response, but they are different - I believe anyway....stand to be corrected.

Kind Regards

Hi SB and others,

The original T35 wheels for wired-on tires (drawing 35CH 17) have 5 sets
of 2 M6 threaded holes between the spokes and opposite the hole for the valve.
For our French friends quoted from the drawing:"Percer 5 paires
de trous filetés à 6 S.I. (entre les bras de la roue) vis à vis de la valve. Entre-axe des trous: 20mm."

Very interesting to note is that the T51 wheel (drawing 43CH83) says :
"7 paires de trous 6 S.I. à percer entre les rayons"

I just inspected 14 balance weights that are fitted on 5 different original Molsheim wheels (Yes Mr. Jörg, original!) already for a considerable amount of time and they all are attached with two screws. So the maximum number of weight per wheel is supposed to be 5 for the T35 and 7 for the T51 wheel. A typical size for the weight is 25X45mm with the thickness according to required weight and corners cut to further fine tune.
I will send pictures to your private mail addres
The T50 wheel (50CH12) has a 5.2mm hole in each of the 16 spokes to attach the weight with a single bolt and nut as shown in the picture of Herman.
