GG30 will be perfect!
How can you help me?
And have you an idea of the price?
Do you want to give me the adress?
Thanks...

Hello,

Yes, Udo, very near, I don't need to go to his meetings, because, sometime I can see his planes fliyng over my garden! JB Salis' aeroclub is about 8 or 10 km of my home!
But do you mean I have to ask to Mr Salis for cast-iron GG30? Or in an other workshop near JB Salis?
It'd be very easy for me to go there...
Please, tell me more!
Thanks, Eric.

I Went 2 times with my antique aircraft to JB Salis some years ago , nice place . But not the right place to ask for cast iron . What do you think about ggg40 ? Much better to machine and much stronger .

Waoo! A pilot...! Always his head in the sky... So far from my clutch..!
But I'm joking!
If GGG40 is easier to machine, I think it's also a little more smooth and so more usable under friction, but even if I'm true, I think it'll be ok with Ferrodo, So why not GGG 40...
I'm ready to try! But I think you already know what cast-iron quality is worst for me, a Bugatti is not a plane!
But, I'm curious, what type is your aircraft(s)? "Pou du ciel" or "B17 Flying fortress"?

NB. Any way you don't have clutch problem! But I'm afrayed, you may have lots of others mechanic's head-aches!

Have a good day.
Best Regards, Eric.

If you machine GG30 , your machine is black , and you are black ! No problem with GGG40 , it makes little shavings , almost no carbon dust . You can buy it as "continuous casting" . Normaly it is cheap material , but if you order only a small piece it is very expensive .
Sorry , it is not a B17 . I have a 1908 and a 1909 Wright Flyer . For example , it was my aircraft 2008 in Le Mans , hänging in the church .

Hello, Mr Udo!

I just saw your video(s) on youtube, what a beautiful aircraft! Is it a total rebuildt or did you find some originals parts as a barn-find?
I've looked for an other video showing it during a flight, but it's a pity, I found nothing...
I thank it was perhap's a clutch problem, because I'm not an aircraft specialist, but if I'm right, I can't help you, because I've find no cast-iron at this time (GG or GGG). Anyway, if you need some balast, I 've got a lot of french fireplace cast-iron panels makers and even some bells makers (about 12 to 40 mm thick)!
But I'm joking! And finally, I think I'm going to use a simple steel sheet-iron!

I wish you to have some good flights with your aircraft, because flying in a church is very dangerous, you know, generally there are some old women praying underneath!
(and even near Paris, somebody saw an old man in a church who prayed to find some cast-iron for his car!).

Best Regards, Eric LAPORTE.

Hello,
This aircraft is a total rebuild . There are no original Wright parts from 1908 . I made 4 of this aircraft . But not only Wright , a lot of French aircraft engines like Clerget - Le Rhone - Anzani and so on . No videos showing a flight in the internet , about a contract with a movie company .
The reason to use cast iron in the clutch , if it is getting hot or overheating, cast iron stays in shape , steel starts to wobble .
