It is my sad duty to inform you that Mr. Ove Anderson, famed rally driver and the man who led Toyota into F1 has died as a result of severe injuries sustained in a car-accident while taking part in the Milligan Veteran Car Rally here in South Africa. His Volvo was struck head-on by a car travelling on the wrong side of the road while overtaking a truck, whilst his South African co-driver, Tubby Bennet, suffered serious injuries, not helped by the fact that he recently underwent quadruple by-pass surgery. Mr. Anderson has lived part-time in South Africa since his retirement as motor sport boss of Toyota.

Fellow competitors tried desperately to revive Mr Anderson until he was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but it was all to no avail. His chest was crushed by the steering wheel and he never regained consciousness. This is the annual Milligan Rally's first fatality in it's 39 year history. Our deepest sympathy goes to Mr Anderson's wife, family and many friends.
