I am very much afraid that I must apologize as I have made an error in the T253 story. I jumped to conclusions and assumed that it followed the T252 in about 1961. I have just discovered, in the recent documents that I was given, the first mention of T 253 is back in 1956 ! It seems that the T253 relates to the special cylinder head which has an internal inlet manifold. This head interchanges for the twin weber head used on the T251 and T252.It is possible that the single carb head was intended for a touring rather than a sporting car.Of course it could also be used with a blower ! I am not going to speculate anymore.

Here is Edouard Bertrands strange attempt to improve Colombos T251/2 cylinder head. This is the corebox for the internal inlet passages in the head.Colombo had four separate tracts all of the same length.
