A 1914 type 22 with (eight-valve) engine no. 322 which was listed in the factory records as having been delivered to London in June, 1914. The car incorporates the modifications which had been introduced the previous year including an improved lubrication system, an egg-shaped radiator and quarter elliptical springing at the rear. It has an inter-war racing history including being driven by Rook at Donington Park. In 1952 its remains were acquired by Peter Hamptonand in 1954 it was recorded in “The Bugatti Book” as a 1912 model with a “cut in half” chassis. It was listed in the 1962 “Register” as a type 13 with mention made of a replica body having been fitted in that year. Elswehere it has been stated that Hampton restored the car between 1966 and 1971 On13th May, 1971 it was given the UK reg. no. NJ 13. In 1989 the car was listed in David Sewell’s “Register” and a half-page colour picture of the car appears in Conway’s “Great Marques” photo album (p.18) with the note that it had been fitted with a contemporary-style body in 1967. Around 1991 it was acquired by David Holland was driven by Alex Rivers Fletcher at Shelsley Walsh. Later in the nineties it was exported to Switzerland.
