How was the Bugatti company funded during its lifespan. What was the role of the Darmstadt bank and Viscaya in the early years, and for instance Bucar in the 30s. |

Hello, at least one known source of funding for the Bugatti Works use to be the "banque Rurale Federative" located in Strasbourg. the Director at the time was Mr Michel Diebolt-Weber, who also use to be a senator, living in Oberhausbergen. He and his son Robert Diebolt have had numerous Bugatti's ranging from type 44 to 46 and several 57's. Mr Michel Diebolt - Weber was proposed a type 46 as gift for the support given by the Bank to the Molsheim plant, wich he obviously refused. The type 46 was than rented for free to Mr Diebolt and returned to the work after his death in 1936. Financial situation must not have been great in the 30's, Boorwed money by Ettore seemed to be difficult to recover by the bank prior and after WW2. Christian |
