In three years, twenty seven prototypes were constructed: five of the first series (chassis n° 1.1 to 1.5, in 2002), eight of the second series (chassis n° 2.1 to 2.8, in 2003), five of the third series (chassis n° 3.1 to 3.5, in 2004, two last being intended for the crash-tests), four of the fourth series, the "pre-production" or PVS (chassis n° 4.1 to 4.4, between February and May 2005) and finally five of the fifth series, called "series 0" (chassis n° 5.1 to 5.5, between May and July 2005).

Some places and dates :

- Carmel Valley, August 15, 2002: A prototype of Veyron (chassis # 1.4) is revealed at a deprived meeting with Stonepine.

- Carmel Valley, August 15, 2003: At 21 hours precise, Karl-Heinz Neumann raises the veil on Bugatti EB 16-4 Veyron (chassis # 2.2), in the presence of old owners of Bugatti... and some potential buyers of new the modéle.

- Laguna Seca, August 16, 2003: Same Veyron (chassis # 2.2) carries out its first turns of wheels as a public playing the role of pace car in a historical race joining together several tens of Bugatti of Grand Prix.

- Frankfurt, September 2003: Bugatti exposes a travelling prototype (chassis # 2.5) gray interior grenadine, for the first time it's not a model of style.

- Papenburg, February 2004: Tests of the prototype chassis #2.8 drived by Loris Bicocchi on the Contidrom track.

- Dorlisheim, October 7, 2004: Exit of the first prototype assembled with the Atelier Veyron (chassis # 3.2). The eight preceding prototypes were manufactured in Wolfsburg.

The Bugatti Veyron carrying registration 3201 W 67 is the chassis number # 5.5, it is the last of the fifth series of the twenty seven prototypes. This Veyron was completed in the heart of the summer 2005.

The n° 001 was delivered to a French living in the USA and the n° 007 with the woman of Ferdinand Piech... Ursula Piech. I do not know for the moment, the choice of the colours for these two models.

A car with the same colors is now at the showroom of Hessing in the Netherlands. I believe it will be there only for 2 days...

I think so, yes. Telegraaf mentioned the car already had run 16.000 km (so should at least have been running for 40 hrs: 16.000 / 400 = 40...)

Probably a show or demo car. I could use a demo...

Confirmed owners include:

* Richard Berry - grandson of Loren M. Berry, the pioneer of the Yellow Pages. Owns the first Veyron in Evergreen, Colorado and will supposedly take delivery of the last one as well.
* Ursula Piëch The wife of Ferdinand Piëch - the former VW chairman's wife, who requested chassis number #007, was the first person on the waiting list.
* Tim Cahill - the Australian soccer player's girlfriend Rebekah Greenhil was caught trying to park it in central Manchester.
* Michael Fux - a car collector who test-drove the car during a trip to Pebble Beach in August 2005.
* Ralph Lauren - the fashion designer, bought one in black.
* Bob Manoukian - dodged the waiting list by buying his Veyron for £1.1m at a charity auction in London in June 2006.
* Tom Cruise - The famous actor arrived at the Mission Impossible III premiere in a Bugatti Veyron 16.4. He had an extremely hard time opening the passenger door.
* Thomas Bscher - was to be one of the first owners, until he was appointed as the chairman of Bugatti, as a result, he allowed his waiting list position to be ceded to others. He hopes to collect his Veyron in September.
* HH Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum - Son of Dubai's ruler and UAE Vice President Black/Red and White/Maroon.
* Jay Leno - Leno was one of the first customers. His Veyron was first seen at the 2006 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
* Nigo - He owns a pink Veyron. Famous Japanese fashion designer and owner of "A Bathing Ape".
* Rumen Gaitanski a.k.a "The Wolf" - chief of Sofia's (Bulgaria) garbage transport firms.
* Scott Storch - HipHop/R&B Producer. His Veyron is black on black.

I was told that the pink color is just a sticker.
