Hello everyone!

I'm Lennart, 19 years old and from the Netherlands.

I'm studying Cartechnics at Bachelor level on the HRO Rotterdam.
I have to make an 3D drawing in 3D design program Autodesk Inventor.

The intention is to draw the following things:

-Crankshaft
-Piston
-Conrods

So I don't need to draw the camshafts + valves.

This was for me the challenge to do this task on the 'Bugatti Veyron 16.4'

Yes indeed... a big challenge :P

My big problem is only that I can't find any information about the enige :(

I only know the following thins:

-diameter of the cylinder is 86mm
-stroke is 86mm
-the angle between the two V8's is 90 degrees
-the angle of one separated V8-part of the W16 engine is 15 degrees
-Ignition order of the cylinders: 1-14-9-4-7-12-15-6-13-8-3-16-11-2-5-10

Some basic information:

-16 cylinders, 4 rows of 4 cylinders. And in fact Bugatti (or Volkswagen ..) combined two VR8's into each other on one crankcase.

- the crankcase has for each bearing two piston rods. So not every bearing has an own conrod.. (if you don't understand what I mean with this, watch this video then: http://rowla.dyndns.org/justin/img/piston_v8.mpg )

So my points are the following thins:

- foto's van krukas/drijfstangen/zuigers of iets wat daarmee te maken heeft
-photo's of the crankshaft/conrods/pistons or anything else what has to do someting with it
- engine drawings
- measures
-orders of the crankcase parts, the angle of the parts on the crankcase
-wich cylinder is wich number, otherwise I can not really use the ignition-order

-all other information that may be usable for my drawing project.

When I have completed my drawing, then it's my intention the simulate the 'crankshaft-rods-piston' combination. Ofcourse, when it is finished, I willl show the results here

I'll hope that I can get some usable information here on this forum :)

Greetings Lennart

Unfortunately I have never seen drawings of the Veyron engine myself. Of the EB110 engine there are a couple of drawings published in the past. Maybe something can be found in the original (Very expensive and difficult to get) sales brochures of the Veyron.

On Youtube there are a couple of animations of how the Veyron engine is working. I think I have a 3D presentation about the engine at my work. Have to come back to you about that later next week.

Wow that would be great Rivaaquarama! :D

What kind of work do you do then? :o

I had contact from a few people who had an official brochure and pressmap, but no technical information about the engine itself.

And the movies on youtube, I have seen them a hundred times :P Just to get a good look of the engine.. but I'm affraid I need some extra information, that's my purpose of this topic.
