Post subject:  The " W " 16 Bugatti

I am going to be controversial here [for a change ] The Bugatti Veyron engine in all its versions is NOT a W 16. A " W " engine has traditionally 3 banks of cylinders.Just like the lovely Napier engine shown in photo below. The Bugatti engine has only 2 banks, with 2 rows of 4 cylinders in each bank. The Bugatti engine is therefore a DOUBLE V engine. Double V of course in German is W !

Hi Lazarus,
you are right, Veyron and Chiron don t have a double V engine but,in reality, a triple V as it s made of 2 VR8 engine place in a V.

Yes that is what I said. Two V 8 engines interposed making a Double V. Not a W and not a " Triple V "
