I was relaying the story of the Atlantic 57473 to my friend and the conversation turned to this question. He thinks there were about 600-650 cars built but does'nt know how many are still around? So i have to ask. What is the total number of Bugatti's built? How many still survive? |

There were around 8000 Bugattis built, of which 1800 or more are still around. And.. The number is growing. Not because of the new Veyron, but there are many replica's being built, both by enthusiasts (many times using the original parts they can lay their hands on) or by companies like Ivan Dutton and Pur Sang Argentina. |

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it turned out that more of a particular type eventually exist than were built. That is what happened with the Lotus Eleven. The value of the cars got so high that some dishonest but otherwise excellent replica builders built cars that were good enough forgeries to attract buyers thinking they were the real thing. |
