Or was that an option. If so, would anybody have photo's of an 8 cylinder without the compressor?

Bugattis were not all supercharged. The first supercharged engines are the type 35 engines. Bugatti finally reluctantly made a supercharger for that. His opinion was that his cars didn't need them.

I will see if I can dig out a non-supercharged engine.

However, all type 50 engines were supercharged.

This is a type 57, not supercharged:

Is this a 50T engine? 51? 54?

This is a special T50S engine, for sale by Ray Jones. It has a specially made (by the Bugatti factory) manifold with 4 carburettors. This experimental layout was not seen on any other Bugatti.

This is the advertisement text from my site:
BUGATTI T 54 ROADSTER with T50S engine.
Currently being restored for sale
4 Winfield carburetors.
Bendix direct-drive starter mounted on front of engine under the radiator
T59 Late gearbox with T73C gear selector lever.
T55 rear axle with T57 shafts for wider track.
Marchal headlamps and twin Scintilla tail lamps
More than meets 3 out of five.
