I'm new to this forum. Have read through many of the posts. I a similar question many times, but am yet to see a definitive answer; Is there a book(s) or similar, that can be sourced/purchased, that has more detailed dimensions for a Type 35 and/or a Type 59? I have found the pictures (dimensional drawings) in the photo section of this forum, but they aren't very detailed and often not clear (pixilated or blurry) when printed or enlarged. Also, I have done some reading, but have not found a definitive answer to this question either; Did these early model Bugatti's (Type 35 & Type 59), use a differential? or were they a solid/fixed axle assembly (both drive wheels locked together)? And did they use a true torque tube style enclosed drive line? eg only a single universal joint at one end of the drive shaft while the other end being semi fixed? or did they use a torque arm like I see some of the replica's using? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

Of course I agree that reading Bugatti books is a very good idea, although I realise that I am not very unbiased in this matter. ![]() The Grand Prix Bugatti's like type 35 and 59 do have a differential. Your second question is unfortunately beyond my mechanical knowledge. |

Thanks for the information on the torque arm. I had seen that most of the good replicas used this system (torque arm), but had read somewhere that mentioned a torque tube. Thankyou for clarifying |

The chassis fotos are still back to front.. might need to wait till yet another reprint happens. I mentioned it to the publishers who seemed not to realise the error... David |
