Hello Gentlemen,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ben and I live in Texas USA. I'm not an auto collector but I build scale model cars. But since no one in my community knows much about Bugattis so I come here to seek for your knowledge and help.

I recently decide to build a model of Bugatti 57G "Tank" 1937 Le Mans winner. As a discriminate builder I want to build the car with historic accuracy. There are plenty of pictures on the internet for reference, however from what I understand this particular car is painted with flat coat during the race back in 37 during the race instead of gloss you see on Google.

This is the car in question:

Am I correct the car at the time of race is painted in flat coat? I can not distinguish on the black and white photos. Please let me know.

I thank you for your help

Ben

Thank you Gentlemen for your prompt help and warm welcomes.

I have seen the modern restoration pictures and absolutely no doubt the gloss coat on this car is breathtaking.

This is the car I am building:

As you can see, the two tone color seems to have less contrast in the photo. The sheen on the car also seems to be less "glossy".

What do you gentlemen think? I want to do this one right and when I do, I will share it with you gents.

Once again, many thanks.

Ben

Hello Folks,

@UWE, thank you for the great photo.

Like I said, I was building the Bugatti. Here's the C version, the G is next. It is in 1/32 scale but with semi gloss finish and re polished. I think it might be historicall accurate. I know you gents are experts in Bugattis so a little bit of advice is appreciated.
