For bidding on Ebay auctions, I use the services of an auction sniper. The service will enter my maximum bid, about 7 seconds before the auction end time. The advantage is that other people do not have the time to react, so prices do not raise more than neccesary. Also, you cannot forget bidding. You set a maximum price, and then you can forget about it. The service will E-mail you with the result of the auction. You can try out the service as well. All you need is an Ebay account, and you need to register for the sniper service.
