Just received an Email from Bonhams:

comments: Dear Herman, I thought you might also be interested to hear of two other rare Bugattis that will be offered for sale at Retromobile in paris on the 7 February.... Kind regards, Sophie 1912 Bugatti Type 13 chassis # 442 This car was sold new to St. Petersberg in 1912. It was later found in the South of Moscow by the owner of the Uzes Museum in 1964 . He exported it from Russia and at this time it is believed to have been cosmetically restored for the opening of the Museum in April 1966. At the time of his death, around 1990, it was sold to Charbonneau and du Montant. They kept the car for a few years before offering it for sale by auction in December 2000, where it was purchased by its current owner and bought over to the US. The present owner found it to be generally pretty tired and so it has been tirelessly restored from the ground up by Paul Myatt, and in Cincinnati under the suggestion of Dean Butler. It's a jewel-like machine and is on the button. The car is to be offered for sale at the Bonhams Retromobile Paris auction on the 7th February 2009. Enquiries: Rupert Banner +1 212 461 6515 , Rupert.banner@bonhams.com www.bonhams.com/retromobile 'Black Bess' - 1913 5-litre Bugatti Type 18 Sports Two-Seater Coachwork by Labourdette Chassis no. 474 Formerly the property of Roland Garros/Louis Coatalen/Miss Ivy Cummings/Colonel Giles/Peter Hampton With continuous history from new, this Bugatti has the most extraordinary provenance and in 95 years has had just a handful of owners – featuring many distinguished names. One of only three surviving examples of just seven Type 18s built, ‘Black Bess’ is widely regarded as best; One is entombed in the Schlumpf Collection and the other is privately owned in the UK. ‘Black Bess’ is very original, retaining its original chassis, engine and body. In Peter Hampton’s collection from 1948, chassis # 474 was then sold to the current owner, a fellow Bugatti enthusiast and connoisseur of historic racing cars. Over the last 20 years it has continued to be used for rallies and in competition, meticulously prepared by renowned Bugatti engineer Ivan Dutton. ‘Black Bess’ retains the original Labourdette doorless body and so remains the same car today that Roland Garros took delivery of 95 years ago. Driven competitively on road and track for almost a century – this is a remarkable story of a very special car. The car is to be offered for sale at the Bonhams Retromobile Paris auction on the 7th February 2009. Enquiries: Rupert Banner +1 212 461 6515 , Rupert.banner@bonhams.com www.bonhams.com/retromobile

Jeroen

in your list you say for 57158
owner J. Applegate selling with Bonhams
that's not correct, he's not the current owner

Updated the first post with selling prices.

I was not at the auction, but from first hand I understood that it was a slow and cold excercise.
