“L’Or Blanc” – One-of-a-kind Bugatti Grand Sport on display at the Frankfurt Auto Show Just 108 of the limited Grand Sport models still available Frankfurt/Molsheim, 13 September 2011 – For the first time in eight years, Bugatti, a brand renowned for producing the world’s fastest and most exclusive vehicles, will be appearing at the IAA. To mark the occasion, Bugatti is bringing a spectacular piece of automotive artwork: TheGrand Sport “L’Or Blanc”, a one off vehicle created in collaboration with the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM), a historic porcelain company based in the German capital. Bugatti will also be showcasing a second open roadster in Frankfurt. With its striking scarlet paintwork, this second design reveals just how many different possibilities are available to Grand Sport customers. The “L’Or Blanc”: The World’s Fastest Piece of Porcelain The one-of-a-kind “L’Or Blanc” is the world’s first car to feature porcelain in both the body design and the interior. The impressive paintwork, which could pass for a piece of abstract art, is based on the roads on the Stelvio Pass in Italy. “In cooperation with the Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin Bugatti turns a totally new page when it comes to creating pieces of automotive art,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., at the company’s press conference at the IAA. “This is precisely what makes us stand out from other brands. We are not afraid of the extravagant idea to use porcelain in a super sport car. We love taking on new challenges and bringing these ideas to life in keeping with the high quality and aesthetics that Bugatti is known for.” Bugatti is carrying on in the tradition of its founder, Ettore, who loved to experiment with new materials. The “L’Or Blanc,” with its blue and white paintwork and the second red Grand Sport reflect Bugatti’s Tricolore concept for the IAA. However, these are just two examples from the diverse range of options available to Bugatti customers in the next few years. With the polycarbonate panorama roof open, the Grand Sport has a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), while with the roof closed it can hit a maximum speed of 407 km/h (253 mph), not only making it the fastest convertible in the world but also the fastest super sports car authorised for use on public roads. So far, 42 orders have been placed from the limited run of 150 1001 hp roadster, which means there are still 108 available for any interested customers. Bugatti Automobiles SAS |
