Car 59122

Have a look at those wheels.

Have a look at the pictures of the first type 59 taken at Molsheim in the early thirties.

The car's "restoration" is a joke - it hasn't in any way restored the car to original condition.

Good for the "restoration" shop's balance sheet.

Good for the ego of the car's owner.

No good for showing the world what a pre-war racing car really looked like.

A good example to be followed is a restoration as the Type 59 #59124, which it has not been distorted.

Post subject:  59122 - tail view.

The rivetting along the bottom of the tail (see rear view) doesn't look very tidy. Is it original ??

Post subject:  Registration no. 6547 - NV2.

6547-NV2
The registration issued by the Prefecture du Bas-Rhin on March 23rd 1934 and seen on the tail of the type 59 ( 59124 known as Voiture Moteur 6 or 54213 (sic) when acquired by UK amateur Brian Lewis. This no. remained in place during the 1935 season which might be explained by its need to return to Molsheim for essential remedial repairs.
In recent years the car has reappeared in pale blue livery with this registration still on its tail.

Isn't it the same as the other Lauren Bugatti's? A typical American restoration.

The original photo of the prototype also does not show a tidy siderail, so rivetting at the rear could be original.
